Stop tweezing/waxing! However, you may trim, shave or bleach the area you are wanting to work on.
Stop trimming or shaving at least three days before you come in for treatment. The hair needs to be long enough to be grabbed by a professional tweezer.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Ample moisture content is one of the key factors in the success of electro-epilation. Please consume as much pure water as possible at least 24 hours before treatment. During the few hours directly before your appointment, please try to drink at least 24-48 ounces of water. Hydration (internally and externally) will make your treatment much more effective and comfortable. Please avoid excessive caffeine, sodas, or other stimulants the day of your appointment. Your nervous system will be more relaxed and your hair follicles will respond better to treatment.
Moisturize the areas to be treated topically in the morning before your appointment as per your regular skincare routine.
Please be clean and fresh for bodywork treatment.
Please skip your deodorant or antiperspirant on the day of your appointment for underarm treatment. The follicle mouth will be more receptive to treatment as a result.
If you wear make-up in the area to be treated on the day of treatment it will be removed from the area immediately prior to treatment.
Most clients require no pain relief, however, if you are anxious about discomfort, you may take ibuprofen or paracetamol an hour before your appointment. If further relief is required, EMLA, a topical local anesthetic cream containing Lidocaine and Prilocaine, is available by prescription from your GP. You can also look for a topical lidocaine 5% cream online or at a pharmacy. Do not get a thick paste, gel or spray as it won't saturate the skin the same way a cream does. It should be generously applied to the treatment area an hour before your appointment and covered with an occlusive dressing. Some people cover the cream with saran wrap as you don't want the cream to dry out. I will remove the cream at the time of your appointment.
Most importantly, RELAX and envision the progress toward your goal of permanent hair removal!
